Students of Classical Music and Jazz of the University College Ghent Conservatory directed by Alexandros Markeas
Julius Eastman — rebel composer of among others Evil Nigger and Gay Guerilla — blends in STAY ON IT minimalism with seventies pop music.
Julius Eastman was an African-American composer, pianist, vocalist, and dancer of minimalist tendencies. His music was among the first to combine minimalist processes with elements of pop music, and he often gave his pieces titles of provocative political intent, such as Evil Nigger and Gay Guerrilla. His semi-improvised work STAY ON IT, will be performed by students directed by the French-Greek composer-improviser Alexandros Markeas.
